In 1986, when the real estate market was contracting, VK Gupta identiﬁed an opportunity in property tax advisory. Property values were decreasing and jurisdictions were not making the appropriate adjustments. VK leveraged his extensive valuation knowledge and access to information from his experience as a real estate broker and applied it as a property tax consultant where he quickly realized that the market was underserved.
He founded RETC and began building a team of talented tax professionals with strong analytical skills, offering a high level of service to their clients. Over the years, RETC has gained a reputation in the real estate community for its level of commitment and service to its clients, which is evidenced by its representation of more than $20 billion in assets. In 2010, VK’s son, Amish Gupta, joined RETC from The Carlyle Group where he worked as an investment professional in their U.S. Real Estate Fund. With a fresh new perspective, Amish has bolstered RETC by providing a strong backbone in real estate valuation and investing. Under his guidance, RETC’s efficiency has quadrupled.
