Larry Hughes earned his Bachelor of Arts-Urban Development Degree from the University of Connecticut and applied it to commercial real estate valuation, resulting in a twenty-five-year career in valuation, property tax consulting and administration. Mr. Hughes has a broad valuation background that includes assignments in every major classification of commercial real estate and business personal property assets. His diverse national experience ranges from raw land valuation to the property tax valuation of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant. His career began as Commercial Real Estate Appraiser for the financial loan industry, he became a Certified Commercial Real Estate Appraiser in North Carolina, was appointed as the City Tax Assessor for New Haven Connecticut and has been employed as a property tax director and tax consultant for various business organizations. Mr. Hughes has provided expert witness testimony for administrative tax appeals, court proceedings and State legislation.

Mr. Hughes earned professional designations as a North Carolina Certified General Appraiser, Certified Connecticut Assessor II, currently holds the Texas-Senior Property Tax Consultant License and is a Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (CMI-Property Tax). Mr. Hughes was employed as Senior Property Tax Specialist for Energy Future Holdings, responsible for tax valuation and administration for electric energy generation, mining, transmission and distribution assets with an annual tax exposure of over $250 million. More recently, Mr. Hughes was employed by Omni Hotels and Resorts as Property Tax Manager, overseeing property tax compliance and tax valuation for sixty luxury hotels, resorts and golf courses in the United States, Canada and Mexico. During his four-year tenure at Omni Hotels he was directly responsible for achieving over $20 million in tax savings.

Personally, Mr. Hughes enjoys volunteering for various youth sport activities and coaching. Mr. Hughes is currently serving his ninth year as a Trustee of Tioga Independent School District.
